About Gilly Johns
Since moving back to her roots in The Lizard, Gilly has embarked on a series of paintings as a response to the beauty of Cornwall - preferring to bring to the foreground the rich colours and textures of the Cornish land and seascapes while keeping a respect for the spirit of the subject. The
resulting paintings are colourful, lively and optimistic. Formally a mural painter and
community artist, and later an art teacher, Gilly has consistently been involved in the arts since her fine art degree at Leeds and postgraduate at Goldsmiths, London.
